If you survive, how do you live with yourself? (DESTROY ENDING) by ~silvermittt “Does this unit have a soul?  Most of the good answers came too late, backup for an alpha team that’d been delayed. ‘I don’t know, Legion,’ Shepard should’ve said, ‘but I think it means something you’re even asking me that in the first place.’  If it wasn’t about the answer, then it had to be about the question. But Shepard didn’t have a hole in his chest—at least, not one that everybody could see—blowing through the confusion of where that soul was, and if a certain kind of emptiness was actually what made it complete.  Shepard didn’t have those simple points of light to see by in the darkness. Power on, power off; ask tough questions in between.  Sure, the strangers you met along the way could be beacons of hope on the nights you didn’t care to sleep. When bones ached and cybernetics did, too, nerve endings, tubes, stiff fingers and jointed pins and metal plates.  Somebody made them. Not just the tough choices, but the bodies that came with each. A light flickering in the darkness, or a hand you still felt on your shoulder next to all that other weight.  The hand Shepard put his face in, listening to his joints creak. There was light coming from somewhere, but it was quiet and weak.  ‘I don’t know, Legion,’ Shepard said. ‘But it has to mean something we’re even asking that in the first place, right?’  There was no answer—not one Shepard was meant to hear yet, at least.” ~ -Spicyshimmy spicyshimmy.tumblr.com  (thank you, as always, for writing so beautifully!!  Finally finished, if I tweak it I’ll update on deviantart.. on to the next drawing for now :D )
